St. Elizabeth Healthcare

South Hospital Expansion & Centre Point Café

Edgewood, Kentucky

This $61 million 8-story expansion results in a dramatic skyline for the hospital. The challenging project consisted of infilling a courtyard and building atop four separate structures with a 300,000 sf addition that expands nearly every service area of the hospital.

Centre Point Café, the main dietary facility, is based on the concept of multiple serving stations, and emphasizes healthy food choices. Champlin Architecture identified traffic patterns, and station layouts were designed to allow for maximum sales and service in the shortest possible time frames while avoiding bottlenecks and congestion.
