Miami University

Elliott & Stoddard Residence Hall Renovations

Oxford, Ohio

Built in 1825, Elliott Hall is the oldest residence hall on Miami University’s campus, and its twin companion building, Stoddard Hall, was built in 1836. Interior and exterior assessments were conducted to prioritize facility upgrades. As a result of these renovations, the existing restrooms have been updated to ADA accessibility standards. The design team worked within a 90-day construction schedule and made informed facility decisions through a comprehensive life-cycle cost analysis. Geothermal wells estimate a 45% savings in the building systems’ construction cost and a 48% reduction in annual energy usage.
