University of Toledo North Engineering Ribbon Cutting
5.30.24
Yesterday marked the end of a 5-1/2 year journey for the planning, design and construction of University of Toledo’s North Engineering expansion/renovation. Master Planning commenced in June, 2018 and it has been an incredible journey for both our design team and The University of Toledo!
The $22M North Engineering building is an adaptive reuse of a 1940’s glass package manufacturing facility in which the existing 2-1/2 story open volume factory and adjacent space was renovated with 62,000 SF of bioengineering labs, maker space, classrooms, lecture halls and vibrant common spaces. These unique spaces focus on education, research and applications which improve the human condition for students and staff.
As stated by Jason Toth, Sr. AVP for Administration, in yesterdays ribbon cutting, “Champlin Architecture were true partners. They embraced who we are and what we were trying to do. They understood who we are and how we foster things here at the University of Toledo. This project is an example of how can we work together and challenge one another to come up with something that not only fits the campus, but fits this college.”
We are honored to have led the planning and design process for this transformational project for the University of Toledo.
