The 152,000-square-foot, five-story specialty care center on Dayton Children’s main campus responds to the increase in patient complexity by creating collaborative spaces to support multi-disciplinary care teams. This “one-stop-shop” utilizes standardized clinic modules, combining over 30 specialty care clinics and associated diagnostics. The design fosters the sharing of exam rooms among pediatric specialties, allowing for flexibility and improved operational efficiencies as patient volumes fluctuate over time.
In response to the rising number of patients dealing with complicated medical conditions, the design prioritizes inclusivity and a sense of joy. The facility is crafted to provide a cheerful and well-lit atmosphere for the patient and their caregivers, incorporating sensory elements in key areas such as examination rooms, diagnostic spaces, blood draw rooms, and featured walls.
With a focus on delivering an exceptional patient experience, this building provides innovative and collaborative care models and enhanced access to ambulatory care.
