Champlin | EOP served as the design firm on this project to transform the existing Shriner’s Hospital building on the University of Cincinnati campus and UC Health into a state-of-the-art Cancer Care facility, laboratory, and research space. Renovation of the 5-story building included over 150,000 SF of space, as well as restoration of the exterior façade and existing garage. The transformation of the entrance lobby and an existing two-story atrium space with large graphic artwork that created a welcoming and calming destination for cancer care are only some of the unique design features in this project.
The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is an academic medical center providing innovative, high-impact education, breakthrough research, and compassionate care. The University of Cincinnati’s partnership with UC Health as their clinical partner allows them to focus their research on achieving high-impact discoveries and administer specialized care at this ’Blood Cancer Healing Center’, treating both ambulatory outpatients for clinic and infusion treatments, as well as providing two inpatient cancer units with 30 beds. The University of Cincinnati as building owner plans to build-out additional laboratory spaces.
